An introduction to all the eco-friendly fabrics and materials used in our products

Welcome to this week’s blog entry on Tet.Responsible Wear! Today, we are excited to introduce you to all the eco-friendly fabrics and materials we use in our products. We believe that sustainable fashion is the future, and we are proud to play our part in creating a more ethical and eco-friendly industry.

Let’s start with our swimwear. Our swimwear collection is made using two types of Repreve yarn to which elastane is added. Repreve is one of the most certified, traceable fibers available today. Firstly, we use Repreve recycled polyester, which is made from 100% recycled materials, including post-consumer water bottles and pre-consumer waste. This innovative fiber helps to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and conserve water and energy. Additionally, it redirects plastic waste away from landfills by creating durable and sustainable yarn suitable for use in textile fabrics. Compared to virgin polyester fibers made from raw materials, recycled polyester provides numerous benefits, with Repreve’s lower environmental impact being the most significant advantage. Furthermore, Repreve polyester is a type of fabric that is just as tough and long-lasting as regular polyester, and is of high quality, with excellent performance in terms of keeping you warm or cool as needed, and wicking away moisture from your skin to help you feel dry and comfortable. Perfect for our Bikini’s for quick drying! Our bikini tops are made from 4 plastic bottles, our bottoms from 4-5 plastic bottles, and our bathing suits from 8 plastic bottles.

In addition, we use Unifiber, which is recycled nylon made from post-industrial waste. This helps tackle the waste that would otherwise have no use. The recycled waste is melted into chips and extruded into yarn, creating a new life for nylon waste which otherwise is very hard to tear down. Nylon is a high-performance fiber that is incredibly strong, stretchy, and lightweight. This makes it an ideal material for creating comfortable and durable swimwear.

By using waste for recycled materials, we are helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the environment.

Moving on to our clothing collection, we use a variety of sustainable fabrics. Since we strive to use as few chemicals as possible in our choice of fabrics, we use organic cotton. It is a natural fiber that is grown without the use of pesticides and from seeds that have not been genetically modified. This makes its sourcing and production more sustainable and ethical, since the environment, local habitats, and workers are not exposed to harmful chemicals. Furthermore, it uses less water, preserves soil quality, and limits soil erosion. Organic cotton farms are also more likely to pay fair wages to their workers and provide a safe and dignified work environment.

But not only that, furthermore clothes made from organic cotton are also of higher quality, softer, and more durable compared to regular cotton.

Next up, we love to use Linen for our clothing, not only for its great properties such as being lightweight, breathable, and extremely durable – but also because Linen is one of the most biodegradable fabrics available. Linen is made from flax plant fibers, which (when not dyed) is completely biodegradable. Furthermore, it is a fast-growing plant, making it a fully renewable resource that can be produced without damage to the environment. Even though Linen is known to be one of the most sustainable fabrics, it yet represents less than 1% of all fabrics used worldwide. We want to change this, by creating beautiful Linen products for every day and every look.

Moreover, we use Organic hemp. Organic hemp is sourced from the stem of the Cannabis plant and is one of the strongest fibers available today. It is breathable, durable, hypoallergenic, and antibacterial. Moreover, it is natural, bio-based, and fully biodegradable. The sourcing of hemp fabric is considered one of the most sustainable since the densely and fast-growing Hemp plant does not need much water to grow and can actually help improve soil health by restoring nutrients to the soil.

We also use eco rayon, which is a breathable fabric that is stretchy and soft to the touch. Rayon fibers are textile fibers made from cellulose derived from plants such as trees, bamboo, and even cotton waste.

At Tet.Responsible Wear, we take sustainability seriously. We are always choosing the more sustainable and high-quality materials options, and during the production process, we visit our factories every week to ensure that everything is being produced ethically and sustainably. We work with local tailors in Bali who have a passion for sustainable fashion and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.

In conclusion, we hope that this introduction to all the eco-friendly fabrics and materials we use in our products has given you a better understanding of our commitment to sustainability. By choosing Tet.Responsible Wear, you are choosing to support a brand that is dedicated to creating high-quality, ethical, and eco-friendly fashion. Thank you for reading, and we hope to see you soon!
